The Derek Teele Foundation was established when Derek lost his life in a car accident on May 4, 2007, at the age of 17.

Initially, the foundation was funded by donations from friends and family. Since Derek's death, an official non-profit foundation was established and funds have been raised through community events such as an annual golf tournament, corn hole tournaments and various local restaurant events!

The funds raised are used to support local individuals and organizations. Donations given out by the Foundation are focused mainly on children and animals since Derek was very passionate about preventing the suffering of children and animals.

The Foundation works hard everyday to make Derek proud and keep his spirit alive as we make a positive impact in our community. We will always remember Derek's gentle soul and intense spirit as we go about our charitable work.

One of Derek's favorite sayings which exemplified the traits he possessed was; "I'm a lover, not a fighter, but I will fight for love!" His personal goal in life was to make people smile and his smile was radiant! So, when the sun and moon rise each day, we can all be reminded of the extraordinary beauty that will always be Derek Grafton Teele.
